CHANGE IN NSD OVER-THE-COUNTER MEDICINE POLICY

The Mississippi Department of Education has recently informed schools of a monumental change in how school nurses are to handle the administration of OTC drugs such as Tylenol, Tums, and Benadryl.  Beginning Monday, November 28, 2022, if you wish for the Nettleton School District school nurse to be allowed to give your child an over-the counter medication, you must have your child's primary medical provider write a standing order for your child.

Until NSD is in possession of this standing order, the school nurse will not be allowed to give your child any such medication without a parent physically present.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.  We as NSD want to do everything possible so that we can continue to provide the best care for your children.

A Standing Order Form can be found on the NSD website.
